preparing for an online consultation

  • Keep the email with your Zoom meeting link handy.

  • Download Zoom onto your computer before the session.

  • Log in to your meeting a few minutes in advance to allow time to trouble shoot any connectivity issues. You will be automatically put in a virtual waiting room, and let into the online meeting space at your appointment time.

  • Ensure you’re in a place with a good internet connection, preferably on a computer or laptop.

  • Choose a comfortable chair where your head can be supported.

  • Position your laptop or tablet so that you’re directly facing it, and your head and shoulders will be visible on camera during the consultation.

  • Use earphones for improved sound quality and to help block out background noises.

  • Choose a quiet area that will be free from interruptions.

  • Put your phone on silent, and mute or remove any other potential interruptions in the room.

  • Consider putting a note on your front door to deter people knocking.

  • Remove pets from the area.

  • Let anyone else in the household know what you’re doing so they don’t interrupt.

  • Ensure children have alternate supervision.

*Lack of prior preparation for an appointment may impact on the session duration if it delays the start time. We understand that unpredictable events can occur, and in the event of a disruption from adverse weather, power supply, or other situation outside of our mutual control, we will reschedule the appointment.
